Why Are Natural Stones So Difficult To Manage?
Did You Know
Roughly 30% of construction work worldwide involves either rework or significant changes.
The potential for selecting the wrong stone for the intended application, missing crucial steps in validating the materials, and using the wrong installation methodologies contribute to the difficulty of managing natural stones.

StoneX’s “5-Step Process”
The stone selection process takes into account not only aesthetics but also availability, budget, and suitability. This removes misunderstandings regarding the stone package and ensures the project runs smoothly.
We analyze the stone choices made by the design and architecture teams, considering technical characteristics and fit for purpose, availability of the stone in the quarry, project budget and aesthetic, proposing alternatives when the initial selection doesn't satisfy the 4 aspects.
Stonex Consulting conducts thorough due diligence to assess the reliability of your potential supplier and stone contractor. The report includes critical insights from our evaluation process, ensuring transparency and trust in your supplier and contractor relationships.
StoneX Consulting’s senior stone consultant will personally visit the quarry to review the material and assess the quality range thoroughly.
StoneX thoroughly validates the materials and installation methods during this stage, reviewing material submittals and drawings related to stone elements. We guide the testing program to ensure compatibility between installation materials and the selected stone, preventing unwanted stains or problems post-installation. Stonex Engineers also conduct a comprehensive review of stone datasheets, grouting, sealers, movement joints, adhesives, and fabrication and installation methods. This comprehensive evaluation ensures that you receive the most accurate and reliable information regarding the stone materials for your project.
Thanks to a team of Architectural Stone Inspectors located in Italy, China, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Brazil and UAE, Stonex Consulting provide a unique project support, ensuring the conformity of the stone to the project requirements, before it gets shipped to the country of the project.
To ensure high standards throughout the construction process, StoneX Consulting follows three essential steps: quality control at the quarry site, quality control of dry layout, and installation review. For each inspection conducted, submittals will be signed and comprehensive reports will be issued, maintaining transparency and accountability at every stage of the construction process.
To ensure that the stonework aligns with the project's specifications and client’s expectations, StoneX Consulting will complete the final inspection WIR (Work Inspection Report) provided by the contractor. This certification process verifies that the stonework has been executed according to the project's requirements, maintaining quality and compliance with the established standards.
